Caprese Salad

Caprese Salad or insalata caprese (literally, the salad from Capri) is a simple Italian dish with fresh mozzarella, ripe tomatoes and fresh basil. Caprese salad is made to resemble the colors of the Italian flag: red, white, and green.

It’s the perfect summertime dish for anyone wanting a quick light meal. The addition of prosciutto is a fun twist on an old classic. Then we topped it off by adding a balsamic glaze, which creates a tangy-sweet flavor to each bite.

We recommend using farm fresh tomatoes at room temperature to bring out the delicate flavors. Also make sure to use the freshest mozzarella balls you can find. We like going to our local market and asking the Maître Fromager or better known as a “cheese expert” for the freshest mozzarella. They always have the best recommendations!

We drizzle this dark and syrupy Delallo Glaze Balsamic Glaze over top, along with a little olive oil, which not only looks gorgeous but also adds a pop of tangy-sweet flavor to every bite. It’s a perfect start to a summer dinner or makes a great lunch with a big chunk of crusty bread.

Caprese Salad can be a side dish or just by itself it’s a great main meal. It’s especially delicious eaten outside with good friends, it reminds us of Italy where we would see this salad everywhere. So much goodness in one plate!

This Caprese Salad is topped with black sea salt, we love the addition of the chunky salt on this perfect summer salad! Serve immediately, or refrigerate to let the flavors meld. If refrigerated, bring the salad back to room temperature before serving. You won’t be disappointed in the flavors and combinations of this fun dish! It will be a favorite of your family and friends!
